This morning, further positive COVID-19 cases have been confirmed at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre.

The AWU remains in regular contact with the Department of Youth Justice and is continuing to make every effort to ensure that the virus is contained and workers kept safe during this time.

The Department has also advised that any staff shortages will be filled by corrections staff and police.

It is vital that if you are unwell or think you might have been exposed to a COVID-19 case let your supervisor know and get tested.

The AWU is here to help you at all times.

If you have returned a positive test and have any questions about accessing pandemic leave and avoiding being financially disadvantaged, speak to the AWU today.

Importantly, if you see a safety issue or have any concerns or issues, speak to your Organiser or Delegate immediately.
