AWU QHealth members support Agreement vote

December 23, 2019

AWU members overwhelming vote to put the QHealth EB10 Agreement to a full vote

23 December 2019

At meetings across Queensland Health sites over the last seven days, AWU members have overwhelming voted to support putting the agreement to a full vote and suspending protected industrial action.

This comes after AWU members took protected industrial action and dragged Queensland Health back to the bargaining table with an offer that properly recognises the vital role AWU members play in keeping our hospitals running.

The Agreement voted on by members locks in massive wins for operational staff, including:

  1. Real action on backfilling
  2. An independent review into bullying and harassment
  3. A better deal for part-time workers
  4. More accountability in Workplace Health and Safety
  5. A $1250 sign on bonus and a 2.5% pay rise
  6. Better access to training for operational staff
  7. Zero reduction in terms and conditions

The wins we’ve had simply would not have been possible without AWU members across the state taking action and demanding to be treated with the respect they deserve.

Because AWU members have supported putting the agreement to a full vote all protected industrial action that hasn’t already been suspended will be suspended as of midnight on 23rd December 2019.

Well done again to AWU Queensland Health members for a huge win.
