Our Branch

About

West Australian Proud

The Australian Workers’ Union is the nation’s oldest and largest blue-collar trade union and has a long, proud history in Western Australia. Our branch is comprised of a dedicated team of officials, organisers, industrial and admin staff.

We’re based throughout the state, with our main office in the Perth CBD and organisers permanently in Port Hedland, Tom Price, Kalgoorlie and Bunbury.

We have established 2 alliances, the Western Mine Workers’ Alliance (WMWA) with the Mining & Energy Union, and the Offshore Alliance with the MUA. WMWA’s focus is on Rio Tinto and BHP Iron Ore sites and the Offshore Alliance focuses on the offshore/oil and gas industry. Alliance membership continues to grow and so too does our ability to collectively represent members in these industries.

We are currently renewing our focus on the union’s core purpose, to fight for the best interests of our members. We’re here to represent workers and their families, and to build a fairer community.
