May Day 2020

A message from the Secretary, Brad Gandy

May Day is an important day for the AWU. For over 133 years, AWU members have been fighting for and achieving better working conditions and we will continue to keep up that fight for the next 133 years and beyond.

We’ve proudly had a strong presence in every May Day March around the country for years. Last year alone, we had almost 500 WA members take part.

We march to acknowledge the past struggles of union members that delivered the working conditions we enjoy today. It’s also a day to recognise our responsibility to preserve these conditions in the face of adversity, and create better working lives for the generation we leave behind.

This year’s rally is not going ahead due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. With this years rally cancelled – we will need to make sure that we have our biggest turnout ever next year.

Will you take the pledge to march with us in 2021?

The first 500 members who pledge to march next year will receive an AWU WA May Day supporters pack later this year – ready for 2021.

Get in quick to make sure you receive your limited edition pack.

In solidarity,

Brad Gandy
AWU WA Branch Secretary
