AWU Safety Update – Coronavirus Case at Wide Bay HHS

March 14, 2020

AWU Workplace Health & Safety Alert: Wide Bay HHS

14th March 2020

The AWU is aware that there may have been a case of coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed at Bundaberg Hospital, Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service.

AWU Officials have been in contact with Queensland Health and received assurances that all potentially affected employees are being contacted and offered appropriate health advice to the best of their ability.

Queensland Health have confirmed that no employees will be financially disadvantaged during this time.

We’ve been in communication with Queensland Health since the onset of coronavirus about workers safety and have sought additional assurances from Queensland Health about that measures are being put in place to keep the entire workforce safe from infection while patients are treated.

We understand that Queensland Health have reached out to all employees who may have been affected and are discussing the matter with the wider workforce.

The AWU will be doing everything we can to support members during this time.

The AWU Organiser is onsite today and tomorrow from 11am – 2pm and am always available by phone if members have any concerns or issues.

If you have any questions, concerns, or wish to raise a safety issue related to coronavirus, make sure you contact your Organiser immediately.

Remember: you have the right to refuse work that puts your health and safety at imminent risk.

Be a part of our community.

Join the AWU.

Stronger together.
