AWU Member Update: Lactalis Closure

February 7, 2020

AWU MEMBER UPDATE

7th February 2020

Last night, representatives from the AWU met with the Queensland State Development and Manufacturing Minister Cameron Dick on behalf of Lactalis workers in Rockhampton and South Brisbane facing job losses and cutbacks.

At that meeting, Government representatives promised to do everything they could do to support workers facing losing their job, including through ensuring access to government services and job search support.

We’ll be closely monitoring the situation to make sure these services are reaching affected employees and aren’t being held up.

We also made clear just how important it is that we keep up the fight to make sure there are no further job losses at any Lactalis sites across Queensland.

We know how vital it is to keep Queensland jobs in Queensland – it’s time for Lactalis to get the message.

Remember: if you need any assistance or support during this time, make sure you contact the AWU as soon as possible.
