Don’t let Scott Morrison steal your super

Ten years ago, Labor Treasurer and proud AWU member Wayne Swan announced increased the superannuation guarantee to 12% by 2019 to help Australian workers retire with dignity.

The Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison government have continued to postpone this by six years.

Under law, workers are due to receive 10% superannuation from July 2021, rising to 12% by July 2025.

But Scott Morrison and his big business mates are looking to postpone this increase again or cancel it completely – robbing workers of an overdue increase in their retirement savings.

This will ultimately cost workers, especially young workers tens of thousands of dollars over their working lives.
