The AWU provides a range of services and performs a number of roles, including:

• Negotiating with employers on behalf of its members;
  

• Representing groups of members, or individual members in various forums, including the Australian Industrial Relations Commission and courts of law;
  

• Providing advice, information and services to members; and
  

• Conducting and publicising campaigns, lobbying governments, and conducting research in order to carry out these functions.

• We have your consent to share the information for a particular purpose;
  

• We need to share the information in order to provide a service you have requested;
  

• We need to share the information for your benefit or for the benefit of the AWU generally, for example, for use in campaigns and/or elections;
  

• We need to send the information to an organisation that performs work for, or provides a service to the AWU. These organisations cannot use the personally identifiable information we provide to them for any purpose other than the purpose for which the information has been sent.
