The Australian Worker Winter 2005

This is the sixth edition of the new-look Australian Worker published by the Australian Workers' Union and Australian Consolidated Press.

In this edition The Australian Worker looks into the dangers for women and families under the Howard Government's IR changes, with an indepth report by Cate Carrigan.

This edition also looks at why work can be a risky business and what the AWU is doing to improve health and safety on the job.

Jeremy Vermeesch reports on the growth of the civil construction industry.

We profile GP actor and unionist Michael Craig and Roy Masters talks to two rising stars from the Carlton AFL club.

Aside from the news from the AWU Branches and the kids page Bindi & Ringer, we also hear from Dr. Con Costa on how the Howard Government's IR changes will be a killer for men's health.

With the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II, we look back and remember the merchant marine heroes.
