MUA-AWU Offshore Alliance Nan Hai VI: Enterprise Agreement Negotiations

Maersk Drilling Australia Pty Ltd (Maersk), the Australian Workers' Union (AWU) and the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) can now announce that they have, with the assistance of Fair Work Australia, reached an in principle agreement (subject to employee vote) on the enterprise agreement negotiations on the Nan Hai VI.
The parties met before Deputy President McCarthy on March 10 for a conference to discuss the outstanding issues in the negotiations.
As a result of this conference, the parties have agreed that the in - principle enterprise agreement will include:
• Annual leave included in the even time cycle, with flexibility to request further leave to attend significant events;
• 5% pay increase each year to 30 June 2013;
• Back-pay to 1 January 2010; from the date of certification of the Enterprise Agreement.
• $2,500 sign-on bonus on approval of the agreement by employees; and
• Health insurance for either single employees, or employee and their family on proof of address.
Further, it has been agreed will that the $2,500 sign-on bonus is payable to both employees who be covered by the proposed enterprise agreement, and employees who elect to remain covered by their Australian Workplace Agreement.
Maersk, the AWU and the MUA look forward to continuing to work together, to achieve the best outcomes for the employees and the continued success of Maersk's business in Australia.
